Moderate to high-risk offenders who have significant mental health concerns may be assigned to Risk Reduction Mental Health Supervision. Officers utilize the following risk reduction and supervision strategies:
Incorporate specialized conditions designed to aid offenders with significant mental health needs
Link offenders with a mental health agency and require the offender to complete an assessment with an approved, licensed provider
Work closely with treatment teams to ensure successful treatment
Address an offender’s specific criminogenic need areas
Assist offenders in complying with court ordered conditions
Communicate with community resources (treatment provider, employer, support system) to assess offender progress
Develop individualized case plans to include the appropriate dosage (hours) of the following:
Interventions (cognitive-behavioral)
Programming
Treatments (behavioral health)
Empower offenders to make positive changes in their thinking
Enforce Court ordered restitution requirements
Engage in quality interaction with the offender to include both behavior change strategies and accountability measures
Ensure adherence to reporting requirements
Ensure community supervision home visits are conducted
Notify Court of potential violations and make appropriate recommendations
Promote pro-social behavior through interventions and skill practice
