Interpreters

The Common Pleas Court appoints interpreters in order to provide equal access during judicial proceedings for limited English proficient, deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Interpreters are responsible for the accurate interpretation of communications from a source language, for both non-English or American Sign Language. They facilitate communication between two or more parties in an impartial manner.

The Supreme Court provides guidance regarding the appointment and usage of interpreters in Sup. R. 80-89. and provides a video regarding "The Role of Interpreters in the Legal System."
